Tell us about yourself and your research interests?
I am a Biomedical Scientist that developed a great interest in Immunology during my second year as an undergraduate. This led me to pursue my Master’s degree in Immunology which I completed in 2018. The pathogen I would love to tackle is Mycobacterium tuberculosis. I am interested in developing TB diagnostics by identifying TB bio-markers and understanding more about the immune mechanisms that are present during TB and diabetes co-infection. I would also love to contribute to work done on PD-1 and explore the potential of using anti-PD-1 therapy to deal with TB and HIV co-infection. The exact role of PD-1 in TB progression is still controversial and I would like to be shed more light in that area.
