My long-term research interest involves the development of a comprehensive understanding of how genetic diversity and immunobiology can contribute to the fight against infectious diseases, especially neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). I, therefore, chose to do a BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Yaoundé I in Cameroon. During my BSc training, I learned Cell biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, and Immunology. As part of my graduate studies, I conducted, under the supervision of Dr. Palmer Netongo, a study on the deletion of the Histidine Rich Protein 2 and its implication for malaria rapid diagnostic tests. For my PhD thesis, I am diving deeper into microbiology and immunology, by studying Loa loa antigens that cross-react with lymphatic filariasis rapid tests. For this study, I am mentored by recognized leaders in the field of Neglected Tropical Diseases (Pr. Joseph Kamgno, Pr. Philip Budge and Dr. Hugues Nana Djeunga). At the completion of the PhD thesis, I plan to follow a post-doctoral program to improve myself in immunology and scientific research. Finally, I will set up a research pool in immuno-biology at the Center for Research on Filariasis and other tropical diseases, so that using immunology I could make my contribution in the fight against NTDs.
