Tell us about yourself and your research interests?
I have always been intrigued by the immune system ever since I learnt about its ability to affect the way living beings respond and protect themselves from invasion of harmful organisms. This interest led me to pursue postgraduate studies in Immunology, first in my country. This proved really difficult at a point due to the dearth of manpower in this area. I was forced to abandon Immunology to pursue a Masters in another field. Delays made me feel frustrated so by 2008, I started applying to foreign Universities, hoping for Scholarship to pursue my studies. This eventually worked out by 2009 and I moved to the University of Nottingham in United Kingdom to pursue a Masters degree in Immunology and Allergy. There I developed an interest in Immunology of tuberculosis. Prior to this my research and interest was in Malaria and HIV. My PhD thesis eventually was on immune response to TB with some aspects assessing differences when there is co-infect with the endemic malaria or HIV.
I continue to research in these area and seek collaborative effort and funding constantly. I also teach Immunology, always aiming to make my lectures unforgettable!
