Growing up with a lot of allergic reactions I always wondered how my body reacted differently from that of others. My first contact with the numerous facets of immunology during my undergraduate years cemented this curiosity. My current work is focused on the first reported mammalian carbohydrate causing alpha-gal allergy. This has opened me to assessing the origins and the mechanisms involved in this phenomenon. Another example of when the immune system behaves unexpectedly is in autoimmunity, which is also another one of my fascinations. Given the ability of the immune system to alleviate damage when its potential is correctly harnessed. I would love to be involved in work that involves immunotherapeutic strategies in the future.
In my spare time I enjoy creative writing and working on graphic design projects.
