Tell us about yourself and your research interests?
My research interest is in the pathobiology of microbes and the immune response to different infections. I pursued Infection biology at Uppsala University, Sweden through the Swedish Institute Study Scholarship. For my master’s thesis research at the Karolinska Institute, the focus was on oral HPV prevalence and its association to tonsillar cancer. Currently, as a doctoral candidate at the Ludwig Maximilian University, Germany and at the Tanzanian National Institute for Medical Research, I work on understanding the effect of HIV infection on HPV pathogenesis and systemic HPV-oncoprotein specific T-cell Immunity in HPV infected women. Furthermore, I am interested in vaccine development for various pathogens and keen to communicate scientific knowledge to the public via popular writing .
